MY FAVORITE MEMORY OF LEWIS'S INTERVIEW:
Lewis Johnson and I have become close friends since my interview with him.  We recently went to France and documented his "Return To Normandy" after 60 years.

Lewis took troops of the 29th Division into Omaha Beach the morning of June 6, 1944.  Lewis made one of the most profound statements about the landing when describing the brutality of the battle when he told me, "I saw coxswains coming back crying."

I enjoy visiting with Lewis and his wife of almost 60 years, Ruthie when I am in Denver.
